It’s that time of year again…the birds are chirping, it’s light past 8 pm, and the temperatures are getting warmer!
Grab your significant other (or even just yourself) and check out these six spring date ideas in BoQ!
Take a trip (sorry, taste buds only for now)!
Even though you won’t be able to pack up and visit someplace warm(er) this spring, that doesn’t mean you can’t indulge your taste buds with a trip.
Travel to the Caribbean with Jamaican Fusion eats from JERKebago. Head on over to India with Butter Chicken from The Harbourview. Visit Mexico with Chilangos, France with L’Auberge de France or the Mediterranean at Santorini Mediterranean Grill. The world is your oyster! (Speaking of which, you can find those at The Boathouse ?.)
Pick out some plants!
Fresh flowers might just be one of the best things about spring. If potted is your preference, check out Thrasher’s Garden Centre, The Garden Network or Hollandale and let your love bloom as you wander the fragrant and colourful aisles.
Not a green thumb? Me neither! A fresh bouquet from Dahlia May Flower Farm or Wish Etc. are just as lovely.
Visit a Farmer’s Market!
Is it just me or is there something romantic about a farmer’s market? Maybe it’s being surrounded by the love merchants put into their products or just being out in the sunshine on a spring morning. Either way, there is nothing else quite like it! On Saturdays, I love visiting the Fresh on Front Market in Quinte West, Historical Belleville Farmers’ Market and Napanee Hometown Market, plus the Codrington Market in Brighton on Sundays. You can always find fresh produce, delicious baked goods and wonderful people.
Be creative with a Wine & Paint Night!
The County Emporium and The Grind & Vine offer a fantastic selection of Ontario wines to get the creative juices flowing. For bonus points, stop by 33 Vines for something extra local!
As for your art supplies and inspiration, Barratt’s Office Pro (in Belleville & Brighton) and The Quick Brown Fox have you covered! Pick from painting sets or individual colours and canvases. All that’s left is to pick up your brush and get started.
Get ‘Snap’ Happy!
Living in a region with such a picturesque backdrop, why not take advantage with a photoshoot? Grab your partner or go solo and get some updated snaps to break up the sweatsuit selfies on your grid! Or heck, shoot next year’s Christmas card.
Brickhouse Photography and Charlotte Buckle Photography have been capturing the region and its residents for years and know how to make your shots picture perfect!
Go for a hiking/biking adventure!
Batawa Ski Hill is the answer for mountain bikers and hikers alike with 22 km of non-motorized trails for cyclists and pedestrians. The Millennium Trail beginning in Carrying Place is another multi-use trail with “hop-on-and-off” locations near breweries, wineries, shops and restaurants.
Prefer a waterfront view for your stroll or ride? Try Belleville’s Waterfront Trail or Presqu’ile Provincial Park.
