The Canadian Rural Innovation Summit is close at hand. It’s seems then, the perfect time to remind our rural entrepreneurs of the success stories that live and breath right here in the Bay of Quinte. One may think only of agriculture when referring to rural entrepreneurship but smaller communities are no longer restricted in way of industry and this opens us up to all sorts of technological enterprises.
clevr is one such enterprise — a web-based data collection and workflow solution being used in School Districts across Canada. School and District staff use clevr to collect and organize information that they had previously collected in fillable PDFs, word docs, spreadsheets, or paper forms. clevr is a business solution that enables data collection in a more secure, reliable and efficient manner. With clevr, information is available to those who need it anytime, anywhere and with any device.
Read how the Bay of Quinte was the obvious choice for these co-founders and how it’s proximity to neighbouring cities gives us and advantage for rural entrepreneurialism.
“We chose to start the company in the Belleville area because we both live and have families in the Quinte Region. For the first few years, we both worked out of our home offices in Belleville and Stirling. Our office is now located on South Front Street in Belleville overlooking the Bay of Quinte. Our team loves the location! You can often see clevr team members walking or jogging along the waterfront trails, especially when thinking through complex algorithms or challenges, or having lunch in one the great local restaurants or pubs.
We have found that the Quinte Region is a great place to attract and retain highly skilled employees from neighbouring towns & cities. We have clevr team members who commute into our Belleville office from Bowmanville, Kingston, Prince Edward County, Stirling and Belleville. We have a small team of 12 full time staff at the office + a couple people working with us on short term contracts. We have a great team that are willing to flex their hours to be accommodating to our client base across Canada. Our clients love that when you call our office, you get to talk to a real person!
Although our clevr client base is currently spread across 5 time zones in Canada, Belleville has been an effective home base for our business over the past 12 years and we look forward to continued growth as we expand our clevr client base beyond the Canadian borders in the next couple years.”
