BITES, BEER, BLOOMS + BOARD GAMES
Yes, we called them date-night ideas, but let’s be honest: you don’t need a date to treat yourself to any of these activities. We know that many of you continue to daydream about going out to a movie or for dinner and drinks; in the mean time, here are five ways to enjoy some fun BoQ experiences safely from home. (Since hours and availability are subject to change, we suggest calling businesses directly to be sure!)
Please continue following public health protocols in order to stay safe while supporting local businesses.
GAME NIGHT!
Settle in for a cozy night of — friendly, we hope — competition. If you’ve grown bored of playing Monopoly for the thousandth time, order a new game from Scalliwag Toys or Pieces Board Game Cafe!
COOK TOGETHER!
We have lots of inspiration after seeing Chef Ralph Saint-Dic whip up delicious charcuterie boards and colourful macarons! Chef Matt DeMille has also been sharing some videos of easy meals at home like falafel, fish & chips and some seriously good cheesy bread. Okay okay, and maybe some cinnamon rolls because we love our sweets.
ORDER IN!
Dig into a lasagna from Lola’s Cafe, some charcuterie and cheese (courtesy of Trenton Delicatessen) from The Grind and Vine, a double-stack burger from The Waterfront Pub or an incredible Indian feast from Royal Haveli. Check out the ‘food & drink’ tab on our Digital Discovery Map for places that are still cooking up your favourite dishes for delivery or takeout across the BoQ.
TREAT YOURSELF!
Don’t underestimate the joy that some colourful blooms can provide. Surprise your significant other, roommate or yourself — “Oh, you shouldn’t have!” — with a bright bouquet from Blush Floral by Carrie or Dahlia May Flower Farm (reopening January 20!). We bet no one would be upset if you ordered a few sweet treats from Mrs. B’s Country Candy or Donini Chocolate as well, just saying!
WET YOUR WHISTLE!
Many local breweries and cideries are offering home delivery or curbside pickup. Explore our region’s sip-scape from home with something from Wild Card Brewing Co, Signal Brewing Co, Meyers Creek Brewing Co, Empire Cider, Daughters Cider, The Napanee Beer Company, The County Bounty Artisanal Soda Co and Twelve Barrels Whisky.
Be sure to check out our events calendar, follow us on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter and sign up for our newsletter for more of what happens here in the BoQ.
