How many of us are missing our trips to the salon, barbershop or spa? Our (very dry) hands are WAY up. As we continue to hang out at home, we wondered: how could we bring some relaxing wellness experiences and products from across the Bay of Quinte into our own homes? Scroll down for some tips on how to create your own at-home spa day. (Sorry if your kids don’t apply nail polish as well as your manicurist!)
LET’S GET STARTED
So, your living room-turned-playroom-turned-classroom-turned-home-office isn’t the most relaxing space right now — we get it. BUT, if you close your eyes and take a few deep breaths of this lavender candle from Reiki on Wheels, you might forget about the LEGO you just stepped on, even for a moment.
Easing into your spa could start with a hot cup of tea from Gourmet Diem, or popping the cork on some rosé from The Lark’s bottle shop. We’ll leave that decision up to you. ?
Fresh flowers can also help set the stage for your day of pampering! Call up Flowers by Dustin, Blush Floral or any of the region’s talented florists for a colourful bouquet.
HAIR
Have you dreamed of climbing back into the salon chair? Brighton-based stylist Charlette Edwards read our minds and is bringing her wisdom to you virtually. Obviously she can’t literally be *there* to help you, but she is offering virtual services, one of which is how to cut your own bangs — a journey no one should take alone. Tip: check out her IGTV channel for some other quick tutorials!
Get your paws on your favourite products with curbside pickup or contactless delivery from your local salon, like The Cat’s Meow Salon & Spa in downtown Belleville or Salon Eleven in downtown Trenton. Many local spots have listed their products online so you can get the salon treatment at home (besides the washing-and-styling-your-own-hair part).
SKINCARE
This might come as a surprise, but we definitely aren’t experts on the matter (so please don’t quiz us on serums, creams and charcoal masks ?). Thankfully, we can turn to the estheticians behind our local spas for all our skincare questions with a quick email or DM.
Pamper your face with a facial brush and cleansers from We Thrive Wellness or a clay mask from Beauty Works Spa. We’re also intrigued by the Hydrojelly Mask Kit (doesn’t that just sound fun?) at Beauty Collective, who will drop it at your door! Add one of their equally-fun-sounding romperalls (romper x overall) for the ultimate comfy-chic spa outfit. If you’re in Quinte West, just send a message to DeeVa Spa Esthetics for an at-home DIY facial kit.
