Christmas in Quinte

Downtown Trenton Winter Christmas-3

It’s Christmas in Quinte!

It’s that time of year again. Sleigh bells are ringing, snow is glistening (not here, but probably somewhere) and all over the Quinte region the malls are packed with crying children and last-minute shoppers. Take some time this year to slow down and spend some quality time with your loved ones this season. Here are 12 festive things to do throughout the Quinte region from now until New Year’s Eve.

Go Skating Outdoors

There’s something nostalgic about skating outdoors. This time of year is all about making memories, and lucky for us the Batawa Community Centre has created a space for us to do just that. Grab the kids, grab the skates and hit the outdoor rinks in Batawa. The ice is expected to be up and running by next week.

Get Lit

What’s more festive than a horse-drawn wagon ride with Santa? Trot through Trenton’s beautifully lit downtown streets and to the Christmas Fantasy of Lights. Belleville Christmas Lights Jane Forrester Park 3It’s a wonderful tribute to Doug Whitney, a man who sparked a lot of Christmas cheer in his time and who also loved Trenton very much. Sip hot chocolate, view the beautiful displays and enjoy the ride–a guaranteed way to bring some serious Christmas cheer to your life.

If you’re in Belleville, stroll through the Christmas lights & displays in Jane Forrester Park. Christmas at the Pier comes alive with festive lights and live music every Friday night. This year they even have Santa & Mrs Claus coming to town.

View The Ultimate Light Show

On your way to the wagon rides, stop at 47 Lorraine Court in Trenton. Turn your radio on and sit warmly in your vehicle while you listen to the show and watch the most amazing light display decked out with Christmas music, too.

Picking out and cutting down a Christmas tree with the family is a wonderful tradition everyone should experience. Denmar Farms  is more than a walk in the woods. They have created a beautiful space where you and your family can get the best tree, all while embracing the Christmas spirit to the fullest. They have complimentary hot chocolate, maple taffy, entertainment and a bonfire where you can warm up and roast marshmallows.

Catch A Christmas Flick

Whether you’re watching from the comfort of your own home or out on the town, take some time to snuggle up and watch a Christmas movie together. The Empire Theatre is hosting FREE HOLIDAY MOVIES this weekend. Don’t miss these classics: A Christmas Story, Home Alone and National Lampoon Christmas Vacation.

Spread Some Christmas Cheer

Spread the love and teach your family the importance of giving back. This season, reach out and help those who aren’t as fortunate. Choose your form of volunteering, from donating to a children’s toy drive to helping family have a Christmas meal. Helping others will not only allow them to have the Christmas they deserve, but also allow you to remember what the holidays are truly about.

Cheer At A #HolidayHockey Game

The AHL and the OJHL both have great hockey teams in the region and games throughout the holiday season. Catch a Belleville Sens game at the newly-renovated CAA Arena in Belleville, and make the most of your night with great food and drinks. With single tickets pricing starting at $22.50, its an affordable way to see NHL-quality talent right here in the BoQ.

The Duncan Memorial Gardens in Quinte West is home to the Trenton Golden Hawks, whose fans create an atmosphere that is comparable to an NHL game. The quality of play on the ice–coupled with the passion and enthusiasm of the hometown crowd–creates a phenomenal hockey experience that is more than worth the $12 ticket price.

Party Like It’s The End of 2018

Say farewell to 2018 and the holiday season with a banging New Year’s Eve party. People will be ringing in the New Year all over the Quinte region. Whether you’re looking for a Plaid, A Toque & A Beer kind of party, a more formal affair with Dinner & A Show or a four-course menu with wine pairings at The Lark, there’s something for everyone this New Year’s Eve.
