How to Make a Bird Themed Sensory Bin with Quinte Parents!

This past week our theme at Quinte Parents was Birds.

During our Toddler program we read a story, sing songs, create a craft and have a sensory bin each week that matches the theme.

Here is how you can recreate our Bird themed sensory bin at home. All of the materials I used can be found at your local dollar store.

1) I started with a large round tub from the dollar store. It is affordable and just the right size with low sides so the kids can get into all the items inside.

2) To create the base I used corn cob pet bedding and black sunflower seeds. One pack of each was plenty to fill the tub.

3) My other materials include feathers, a wood birdhouse and eggs (great use for those Easter craft leftovers)

4) Finally I needed to add some birds. I found some great bird shaped badges which I glued onto popsicle sticks so they could stand up in our tub.

Quinte Parents is now registering for its fall semester. If you want to join in the programming please contact [email protected] or 613 689 9850
