If you resolved to be less of a Netflix-absorbed couch potato for 2019, you’re likely not alone. As you might have guessed from our countless Instagram posts where doughnuts, candy and treats abound, we are (barely) mere acquaintances with fitness.
A fitness routine is like the person from high school I see once a year at Christmas at the bar. We try to avoid eye contact, and then when we inexplicably run into each other (it’s a small town) we exchange fond greetings and make plans that will never come to fruition.
As a general adherent to otherwise healthy living (I get lots of sleep, drink water, eat relatively healthy, meditate daily), even I must admit that not exercising seems a bit silly. In an attempt to change my mindset from popcorn to push ups (who am I?!), I did some research about fitness options in the Quinte region.
Am I more inclined to choose the option closest to the nearest wine bar? Yes, without a shadow of a doubt. Hey–health is rooted in balance, so good luck wrestling the wine glass out of this vice grip.
Here are my findings, divided into categories:
YOGA/Meditation/Reiki
GYMS/STUDIOS
MARTIAL ARTS
CFB Trenton 8 Wing Martial Arts Club
Infinite Martial Arts & Fitness
Limitless Brazilian Jiu Jitsu + Kickboxing
GENERAL FITNESS
Batawa Ski Hill (ski, snowboard, hike, fat bike, snowshoe)
Cruising Canoes (paddle, hike)
Quinte Conservation (hike, cross country ski)
Quinte Sports & Wellness Centre
Belleville and Quinte West (hike on waterfront trails)
