Describe your business.

Lambert Decorating is a female owned and operated painting company that specializes in interior repaints and cabinet painting.

How long have you been here?

My partner Maddy and I were both born and raised in Belleville. I left for a few years to attend school in Toronto, and then lived in Kingston for a short time.

What brought you to the region?

I moved back to Belleville once I met Maddy, and I was pleasantly surprised to see how this area had changed since I left.

A lot of changes are currently happening in this area–a lot of people are either discovering the BoQ area or moving back. We feel like we’ve started our business at the perfect time to take part in this change, and to help people transform their homes into their perfect space.

What advice do you have for entrepreneurs in the area?

Get involved and get to know the community and their needs. There’s an amazing social media presence in the BoQ and it makes for a great networking opportunity.

We were absolutely stunned with the amount of support we have received from the community. It’s a scary thing, jumping into business for yourself, and the reality of failure is real. It’s awesome how this community wants to help the “little guys” out and support local businesses.

Describe your perfect day off.

On a perfect day off Maddy and I love exploring  the area. We like getting out to the farmers’ markets, exploring flea markets and going to the beach. We love taking nightly walks around the East end and seeing the older homes. Of course we would also probably be found binge-watching Netflix, too.

What’s your secret to surviving winter?

From a business perspective winters are still a busy time for us. We do take a little vacation during the winter to recharge, however. From a personal perspective we survive winter because of good coffee, a list of good shows and a shovel.

What’s your favourite part of living in the BoQ?

This area has so much to offer. When I was a teenager I couldn’t wait to leave to live in the big city. Once I did that, I couldn’t wait to get back here. My absolute favourite part of living in this area is the sense of community you don’t get in larger cities.
